William, I quite agree, and suggest also it depends on what is pouring out of your sound system as you prowl the sleepy byways. Many a night I felt invincible in my 20 year-old rattletrap just because of how the lights slid over my dash board and the much needed jam filled the cabin. I miss those nighttime drives.

I had to come back to this because I was reminded by the night. Anything you drive can feel like power under cover of dark and cool summer rain. Gliding through streets in wee hours is powered by who you are, not what you are driving. If you think a noisy truck has more power than a Prius at all times you are indulging in an abhorrent fantasy. It’s an illusion fueled by the crudest capitalism preying upon your weakest self image.
